Waiting

One of the hardest things about living overseas is the lack of communication... It's no one's fault.  The bijuli (Nepali for "electricity") could be out, or the time difference can be a factor.  OR ... one's husband COULD be running around getting a motorcycle, meeting people, finding someplace to eat lunch, buying beds, whatever.. and when he gets home, that "bijuli" might have just gone off!  yep.. "waiting" is what we do, living in Nepal...

The Weekend

well, Mickey left today :-(  We're not quite sure what to do without him.  I guess we could clean out the shed!

Boo, David, Katrina, Corban and the grandkids (and a few dear friends) all came over on Saturday to say "bye" to grandpa... as J was walking out the door, he said, "ok grandpa, i'll see you in "kapal"... he's such a globally aware 3 year old!

A good day!

Our house rented!  YAY!  Mick leaves Sunday, and now Michael and I finally have a REAL date to move in with friends.  (+ no more showings, whew!)

Mick fixed my old broken computer, and got his macbook tuned up with extra memory for Michael, AND all for the price that we received from Apple for sending in Michael's old desktop!  So without spending a dime, we have TWO working laptops (+ mine!)  - A friend of ours who lives overseas says a computer is as necessary as a horse was in the wild old west!  indeed.

We bought two new suitcases (cuz the trunks were the wrong dimensions for the airplane (who knew?) Thanks to a going away party gift from friends.

Mick's all packed!

Michael and I ALMOST are packed!

Our almost empty house!

Beginning

so, I decided to chronicle our life in Nepal by creating a blog

here the 3 of us, (or maybe, just me!), will post photos, videos, stories, ideas and articles -- and -- catch up on the latest news around Nepal and India! - thus the blog address - Samachaar3 - (meaning "news" in Hindi & Nepali,  to the 3rd degree - that's us!) resurrecting a "journey started long time ago" (Simon)

Mick leaves on Sunday... sad

we're looking forward to a reunion in KTM (on 9 Feb!), Mick & I are  re-reading Vishal's  Truth and Social Reform, and we're ALL hoping for visas, a flat, and a soccer league.

guess who wants what!
